Project
Picnic Charcuterie

Years
2014-2023

Over 9 years managed and designed the branding, packaging and labelling to ensure the aesthetic evolved to meet the needs of a small business growing into its potential. Graphic design was primarily done independently, whereas photography was a collaborative project. Branding, in particular labelling, was designed with flexibility in mind to accommodate the artisan nature of the products and facilitate any variations in product dimensions, as well as product details.

Co-founder and creative director of SpitFire Press, working collaboratively to envision and craft visual framework to support content focused social justice, anti-racism, and collective action. Design broadsheet layout and manage colour proofing and printing with commercial printers. The structural design is carried over between volumes in order to maintain visual consistency. An additional colour is introduced in each subsequent volume to illustrate that the content was a progression from the previous. Colours are inspired by risoprinting and intentionally selected to create an inviting aesthetic and soften often challenging topics. Mini-essay t-shirts are designed to communicate dense and complex social justice issues, using disarmingly friendly graphics meant to invite folks into conversation about potentially challenging subjects.
